Drug Uses
Renova is a medicine used for treatment of wrinkles, brown spots, surface roughness of the face, stretch marks, and acne. After it is applied on the skin, the medicine binds to specific cell receptors and activates them. This causes modification in the gene expression, subsequent protein synthesis, and cell growth and differentiation. All that makes the epidermal cells to produce increased amount of new cells. Clinical studies have shown that there is an increased production of collagen in the areas of the skin treated with Renova.
How Taken
A thin layer of the medicine is applied on the affected skin once a day. You should wash your hands immediately after usage. More frequent usage of Renova or increased dosage will not lead the effects of the treatment but may enhance the side effects. Acne may appear during the first days of the treatment but you should not discontinue using the medicine. About three to six weeks may be needed to get the desired results. Keep Renova away from the eyes, mouth or cuts. Wash your face with mild soap. Be cautious when using other product for acne in combination with Renova.
Warnings/Precautions
Renova may enhance the sensitivity to sunlight, wind and cold. Avoid sun light and sunlamps. Use protection when you go out. Use the medicine only if it is need in case you are pregnant. Consult your doctor before taking Renova if you are breast feeding because it is not clear if the medicine passes into breast milk. Wash your face with mild soap. Be cautious when using other product for acne in combination with Renova.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take the drug as soon as you remember. If it is already time for your next dose, skip the missed one and take the scheduled one. Do no take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects
The skin may feel warm, redness or mild stinging may occur, as well as peeing of the skin. These side effects usually occur during the first few days of the treatment until the skin adjusts to the medicine. You should stop using Renova if these side effects continue or worsen. Renova may enhance sun sensitivity. You may also experience itchiness or scaling of the skin.
Storage
Renova should be stored at a room temperature, away from sunlight. Keep it away from children.
Overdose
An overdose of Renova is not likely to occur. If you suspect an overdose of you take Renova orally by mistake, immediately search for medical help.
More Information
You should wait your skin rash to clear up in case you have been treated with keratolytic preparations or exfoliants. Studies have shown that the efficiency of Renova is not complete in pregnant women so they should use it only if it is absolutely needed.
