Wellbutrin SR is a pharmaceutically prescript antidepressant medication which acts on the brain and on the nerve cells. It is used in treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder), bipolar depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, cocaine addiction, nicotine addiction, and lower back pain. Wellbutrin SR also helps stop smoking (similar to Zyban). The drug has no chemical relation with tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor or other antidepressant medications.
How Taken
Wellbutrin SR is in the form of tablets and is taken orally. Its common dosage is one to three times every day, with or without food. Wellbutrin SR should not be crushed, chewed or divided. The intake should continue even if you feel well. If you want to stop using Wellbutrin SR, you should consult your doctor first, especially if you have used it for a long period. The dosage should be decreased gradually. Effective results will be achieved after a few weeks of usage.
Warnings/Precautions
You must tell your doctor if you have any of the following diseases: history of seizures or head injury or brain tumor, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, eating disorder, diabetes, alcohol dependence, any allergies, the intent to quit smoking. The drug may cause dizziness and affect the coordination, so it is recommended that you do not drive or operate machines until you get used to these effects. Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible but not if it is within a period of 4 hours before the next dose. If it is already time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and take the regular. Do not take a double dose of Wellbutrin SR.
Possible Side Effects
Generally, Wellbutrin SR is tolerated very well. If the following effects persist or become worse, inform your doctor: dry mouth, headache, increased sweating, nausea/vomiting, constipation, anxiety, fatigue and blurred vision. Contact your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of these side effects: unusual weight loss or gain, palpitations, agitation, trouble sleeping. The next effects are unlikely to occur but if they do occur, notify your doctor immediately: tremor, dizziness, fainting, mood changes, slowed movements, difficulty urinating, decreased sex drive, and drowsiness. Seizures, mental problems, fever, muscle aches, yellowing of the eyes or skin are effects that are very unlikely to occur but in case you experience them, report as soon as possible. Allergic reaction to Wellbutrin SR is not expected, but if it occurs you should search for medical care immediately. Symptoms of allergic reaction may be troubled breathing, rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the effects listed here.
Storage
Keep Wellbutrin SR at a room temperature between 20�- 25� C(68�- 77� F), in a tightly closed, light resistant container.
Overdose
You should immediately search for medical help if you suspect an overdose of Wellbutrin SR. An overdose may be signaled by symptoms like seizures, hallucinations, loss of consciousness, weakness, a fast heartbeat, and heart attack.
More Information
Dizziness may occur when you change your position from sitting or lying into rising. You can prevent the dizziness if you rise slowly.
