Xenical is a product used to help people who want to lose weight and to maintain the weight loss. Xenical do not allow the body to assimilate the fat you eat. How Taken
Xenical is in the form of a capsule that it taken orally three times a day with food. Take the medicine exactly as instructed; do not take fewer pills and do not take it more often than your doctor prescribed. You should follow a diet which includes reduced amount of fat (30% of total calories), carbohydrates and proteins that are evenly distributed in 3 main meals.
Warnings/Precautions
Consult your doctor before taking Xenical if you have a chronic malabsorption syndrome, or gallbladder problems. If you have any of the above-mentioned conditions, you may not be able to take the medicine. Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney stones, have diabetes, have anorexia or bulimia, take any other weight-loss medicine, or take cyclosporine. If you suffer from any of these diseases, you may not be able to use Xenical or your dose may have to be adjusted, or you may have to be monitored regularly during the treatment. Do not take Xenical before a consultation with your doctor in case you are pregnant. Xenical falls into the FDA pregnancy category B which means that it is not expected to be harmful for a fetus. Also, consult your doctor if you are breast feeding because it is not clear if Xenical passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose
In case you miss a dose, take a pill at your next meal. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor immediately and stop taking Xenical if you develop any of these side effects: allergic reaction including shortness of breath; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives. If you have any of the following less serious side effects, continue using Xenical but inform your doctor: oily spotting, gas with discharge, an urgent need to go to the bathroom, oily or fatty stools, an oily discharge, an increased number of bowel movements, an inability to control bowel movements, or orange or brown colored oil in your stool. The changes of the bowels show that Xenical is working and are normal. Such changes occur at the beginning of the treatment, and particularly after consummation of meals with higher amounts of fats. They usually disappear during the treatment if you follow the recommendations for reduced fat intake. Other different side effects that are not listed here may also occur. If you notice some unusual effects or conditions, inform your doctor about them.
Storage
Xenical should be kept at a room temperature, away from moisture. The container should be tightly closed. Keep away from children.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose, immediately search for medical help. The symptoms of an overdose with Xenical are not known.
More Information
Xenical may reduce the assimilation of certain fat-soluble vitamins. It is recommended that you take multivitamins which include vitamins D, E, K and beta-carotene. You should take the vitamins once a day after your Xenical dose. Ensure that you follow the requirement for low fat food. Divide the fats carbohydrates and protein over evenly over three meals.
